Course Contents
-Animal first aid
-General salon management
-Bathing and prepping coats on a variety of different breeds
-Nail clipping, ear cleaning
-Fluff drying and detangling matted coats
-Basic dog grooming

All students will be provided with a Paws Galore & Co course guide to work through and the necessary resources required to complete the course

Course Objective
Our 10 day Introduction to Dog Grooming course has been designed for those with little or no experience who wish to learn basic grooming skills. This course is ideal for those looking for a career change and want a good understanding of the grooming industry or simply for those who want to be able be able to groom their own pets at home.
The course is made up of a range of theoretical and practical units related to canine health and wellbeing and basic pet grooming.

Upon successful completion of this course
All of our students will receive our in house course certificate in introduction to dog grooming.
You will have gained the knowledge and experience be able to work as a dog grooming assistant within a working salon.
Opportunities are also available to work alongside our fantastic team at Paws Galore & Co to further your knowledge.

Course Fee's and additional courses
Upon completion of this course, for an additional £2000, we highly recommend that you add onto our 20 day commercial Pet Styling course. This will increase your knowledge in Styling and confidence within the industry to further your career to become a commercial Pet Stylist.
Alternatively, you can book onto our Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming for a complete ,fully loaded career change, gaining an AIM recognised Diploma qualification giving you the tools to run your own salon.

The units that will be covered
​
Welcome, Receive and Care for Customers-To be able to communicate, manage and maintain customers.
Assess, Plan and Record Dog Grooming Work-Be able to assess, plan and record all aspects of basic dog grooming whilst promoting health and safety.
Carry Out Basic Prep and Groom on a Dog's Coats-This unit gives learners the knowledge and skills to be able to confirm that the environment, equipment and tools are clean and suitable for use, carry out a health and safety check on the dog, basic prep work including nail clipping, removing excess hair from a dog’s coat prior to bathing, how to remove mats, tangles, knots and "dead coat" from a dog, clipping and how to carry out a basic groom of a dog's coat.
Health Check-Be able to carry out and monitor the health status of a dog and promote the animal's wellbeing.

Course Objective
Our 20 day Commercial Pet Stylist course has been designed for those who want to become a professional Pet stylist and work within a commercial salon. This course will give students the tools, knowledge and hands on experience to gain a great understanding and build confidence to prepare working within the industry.

The course is made up of a range of theoretical and practical units related to canine health and wellbeing and Commercial Pet Styling

Upon successful completion of this course
All of our students will receive our in house course certificate in Pet Styling.
You will have gained the knowledge and experience to be able to peruse your career as a pet stylist within a working salon.

Course Fee's and additional courses
Upon completion of this course, if you are seeking further training, we do offer additional days at a rate of £100 per day. This could increase your knowledge further in Styling and confidence within the industry to further your career to become a commercial Pet Stylist.
